About Our TroopTroop 457 of Sunnyvale is about 65 members strong. We strive to be a scout-led troop and all scouts are encouraged to take on leadership positions from our wide selection of positions. Our troop aims at teaching the important values of scouting that scouts will remember for the rest of their lives. FUN is also another important part of our troop. We always have fun and educational activities in our meetings and outings. Having fun while learning life and outdoor skills is our number one priority. We take part in high adventure trip and a summer camp every year.

Our Mission Statement:
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Meeting Plan |
Troop 457 meets on Thursdays at the Ortega Park building in Sunnyvale from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Our meetings are planned by and carried out by Scouts. We strive to teach important scouting skills and values while also having fun. Adult Leadership is there to assist, ensure safety, mentor and support the Scouts.
Each month, we focus on different aspects of scouting, such as knots or cooking. Our troop starts and ends with flags paying respect to our country. After opening flags, we do an activity. This could be a lesson, a game, or a competitive challenge. We then plan for future meetings or campouts. After, we do closing flags and bulletins ending our meeting. |
Monthly Plan |
Our troop usually has at least one event each month. Typically activities are camping, hiking and backpacking but we also do boating, snow sports and other fun outings. Our troop is also committed to " high adventure" trips at least once a year for older Scouts.
If you would like to visit the troop and/or see our specifica calendar of events, please use the "contact us" link in the navigation menu to get in touch with one of our adult leaders. |
Patrol Leader Council
|
The Patrol Leader Council (PLC) meets up at the start of each month to discuss problems/issues and successes of our troop. The PLC plans future meetings and outings, and tries to keep the troop in balance. Because of the PLC's extensive planning, meetings, outings, and every troop/patrol activity is able to happen.
